  1. The organisation is to be known as “Haddon Equestrian Club”

 

  1. The aims of the Club are as follows:-

 

    • To promote fellowship and co-operation amongst the members
    • To aid the novice or experienced rider
    • To increase the knowledge of horsemanship
    • To give members a chance to learn and compete

 

  1. Membership

 

      The fee for membership of the club is currently £5 per person for a 12 month membership period.  This amount can be reviewed and amended at the discretion of the committee.

 

      The Committee has the right to refuse membership to any individual without providing any supporting justification.

 

      The Committee may expel from membership of the Club any member who has wilfully disobeyed any of the rules of the Club or who has, in the opinion of the Committee, been guilty of any misconduct derogatory to the character or prejudicial to the interests of the Club.  Before expelling him/her, the Committee shall call upon the member for an explanation of their conduct and shall listen to their defence.

 

  1. Executive Committee

 

      The Executive Committee shall be responsible for the management of the affairs of the club.

     

      It shall meet no less than once per month and consist of the following roles which are elected for 12 months:-

 

    • Chairman
    • Secretary
    • Treasurer

 

 

  1. Committee Members

 

      In addition to the above mentioned, further members shall be elected annually to the Committee to take responsibility for other aspects of the Riding Club. The number of Committee members should be a minimum of five.

 

      The Committee may, at its own discretion, co-opt additional Members to the Committee who, it believes, will make a valuable contribution to their work.

 

      The role of all Committee members will be to work towards the interests of the club and the Committee has the right to exclude a fellow member should this role not be completely fulfilled.

 

  1. Quorum

 

      Four members of the Committee shall constitute a quorum, including office bearers.

 

  1. Elections

 

      Nominations for office shall be made by the Ordinary Members of the Club.  Elections will be held on or before the Annual General Meeting, to be confirmed at the AGM, and the officers will take up their office at the end of that meeting.

 

  1. General Meetings

     

a)                  The AGM should take place at the end of January, at a venue to be decided by the Committee.  At least 14 days notice of the date, time and place shall be given to each member prior to any meeting.

b)                  An Extraordinary General Meeting may be called at any time by the Secretary on the instruction of the Chairman, or on written request to the Secretary by 4 members of the Committee of by Ordinary Members.  14 days notice is to be given to all members of the Club.

 

  1. Subscriptions

 

      Members shall pay the appropriate subscription annually to the Treasurer or nominated officer of the Club.  Subscriptions become due on the 12 month anniversary of initial membership.

 

      It is the riders’ responsibility to ensure they have appropriate personal & public liability insurance in place in order to participate in Club events.  The Club reserves the right to ask for evidence of this insurance.

 

  1. Rules

 

      The Rules and Constitution of Haddon Equestrian Club shall not be revised or altered except by a two thirds majority at a General Meeting attended by at  least 15 members.

 

 

  1. Accounts

 

      Accounts for the Club will be prepared annually for the year end at 31st December and will be presented at the AGM.

 

      It is stated that we are not primarily a profit making organisation and that any profits that are made over the year will be held by the Club against any further expenditure, and that there will not be any payment to either Committee Members or Ordinary Members (except for out of pocket expenditure).

 

      In the event of the club closing, any club assets will be sold and any monies remaining after all debts are paid will be donated to an appropriate charity as decided by the outgoing committee.

 

RULES & REGULATIONS – To be observed at all Club events

 

  1. Hard hats to current approved recognised standards and footwear with heels to be worn by mounted riders
  2. A neat and tidy appearance of the horse and rider is required
  3. General behaviour is to be considerate towards others at all times
  4. Competitors must show due consideration to their horse.  Any competitor deemed to be behaving inappropriately towards their horse will be asked to leave the competition.
  5. No bad language will be tolerated
  6. Work in only in designated areas
  7. When riding, the pace must remain at a walk at all times, with the exception of warm up and competition arenas
  8. School/Menage rules must be adhered to at all times – Passing left hand to left hand, no galloping, walking should be done on the inside track allow other riders to pass on the outside
  9. No lunging
  10. No earrings (other than studs) or other dangerous jewellery to be worn when mounted
  11. Horses in ridden classes must be a minimum of 4 years of age and be fit to be ridden
  12. All competitors under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.
  13. Signs and notices on the yard must be observed at all times
  14. Competitors are required to clean & tidy their area in the car park
  15. Respect for fields and property to be shown at all times
  16. Consideration towards other riders and car drivers to be shown at all times
  17. The decision of the judge is final.
  18. Any objections which members wish to raise must be lodged with a £10 deposit which will be refunded if the objection is upheld.
  19. The Club reserves the right to request to see a valid horse passport for the purpose of identification and vaccination records for horses at events (whether competing or not)
  20. The Club reserves the right to cancel events if required/appropriate
  21. The Club, its Committee or person acting on their behalf shall not be held responsible for any accident or injury to any person or property how so ever caused.

TEST ENTRY RULES

 

·         Junior Members should  be 16 or under on the 1st of October, Non members will be treated as the age they are on the day of entering a class.

 

 

FAILURE TO OBSERVE THESE RULES MAY RESULT IN EXPULSION FROM THE CLUB WITH NO REFUND OF ANY FEES PAID
